The London Bridge

On Easter Monday we ventured out into the light snow showers to visit the London Bridge. It is a pretty wicked thing to look at and it was quite interesting inside finding a bit about the history of the famous bridge. Two Cities down, two to go. Deciding on which is the biggest so far has been a tricky task, Eketahuna or London? HHHMMMMMMM!!!!!
Here is Shelley inside the walk-way between the two towers. This the view to the North West, with central London in the background and to the right, out of view.

London Here We Come

On the plane and ready to get off. Emirates were , by far, the best airline for food. We ate as much as we could. The flight to London was 7.5 hrs. The flight to Dubai was 19hrs.Here we are at the Tower of London Bridge and the Thames River. The traditional red phone booth. We saw the London Eye peeking out from around lots of buildings. We havent been on it yet. Here is Westminster Abbey.Nigel and his brother Kelvin were very excited to photograph a 3 wheeled, 'Mr Bean' car. Here is Buckingham Palace on a crisp London morning. We came across Big Ben quickly after seeing Buckingham Palace. I didnt realise all the great sites of London were so close together.

Desert Wanderer Tour in Dubai

These photos are from our trip out into the desert. We were able to do all the tourist things so read on to see what we got up to! Towards the end of the night we had a traditional feast (lots of barbequed meats, hummus and breads), watched a belly dancer and saw the camels leave to go off to their pens for the night.
This is the Shiska pipe or the Hubble Bubble pipe. We had trouble taking photos because we coughed so much! It was like inhaling a berry flavoured ash. Not nice but an experience to try!A candid shot of me laughing at Nige's attempts to smoke the pipe without coughing. Here we are eating dates and drinking tiny cups of strong coffee. I quite liked it. Nige looks like he wants to spit it out!
On the Desert Safari, we went four wheel driving on the sand dunes with our tour guide, George. He loved to sing and he sang songs to us the whole time. Here is a henna tattoo I got on my hand. It lasted for a week. Nige got a scorpion and a spider on his arm.
Sand boarding down a hill was great fun. Here I am at the bottom of the hill (graceful landing I might add). Nige looks like a pro in mid flight.

Camels are Cute

Shelley holding a falcon.

Wild Wadi Water Park

Here is an action shot of Nige. We went on these tubes everywhere. They were on a massive slide system that had interconnecting routes. You get shot up hills, through darkness, twisted and turned around corners. Lots of fun! This is the view from the top of the 30 mtr high water slide. We were pretty scared, but it was cool.

Dubai City Skyline

A Mosque

There are heaps of Mosque buildings in Dubai. The prayer call comes on 4-6 times a day so people need to be near one. Because of this the government built enough Mosques for everyone to attend easily. There is one Mosque every 600 mtrs.

Wavy Desert Sand

Here is a photo of the cool patterns in the soft desert sand.

The Al Jumeriah Hotel

This hotel is situated on Jumeriah Beach. I took this photo from the top of a 30 mtr high water slide tower.

Residential Dubai

I thought the sky was a dirty blue colour, it's from all the sand. The houses are mainly in apartments. The government buys houses for its people who earn less than $10,000 a year.
