London Sevens

On Sunday I went to the London IRB Sevens at Twickenham. It is an awesome stadium, that had an awesome atmosphere even though it wasn't even half full. Unfortunately NZ lost to England in the Quarters, so took a bit of stick the Poms, but that was alright cos just got started talking about the cricket, (we were doing well on day 3). Tomasi Cama kicks off in the semi final against heavyweights of world rugby Portugal. The real Elton John serenades the crowd. England V NZ women, unfortunately, we lost to England again and my camera went flat after this. So I missed taking some snaps of some of the best pitch invasions I've ever seen, included a mass invasion of about 10 people dressed as priests.

First Day of First Test at Lords

Anderson to Oram from the Pavillion end. McCullum, is bowled for a great knock of 97. Solid defence to Sidebottom. Vettori talking up the prospects, to Michael Atherton, after losing the toss and being sent into bat. Teh scene that greeted us on arrival. Covers and the famous Pavilion. I had a great day out at Lords on the first day of the test. The highlight was definitely seeing Brendon McCullum annihilate the English attack, before being bowled for 97, check out the pic.

More from the Tower of London

In the White Tower they kept all the weaponry. Nige liked lookin at all the guns and knives. A jousting pole. It was huge, but they only weighed about 7kgs. The famous blo ck of good, solid, english oak. This was the main block used for beheading many wives and traitors. Apparently, one beheading went badly because the executioner was so drunk, he drank a flagon of ale (5 or 6 pints) and then missed and maimed the poor man up to 5 times. At this point the executioner (who was also a butcher) drew out a carving knife and sawed off the head. Yuck. More torture tools Largest suit of armour built. Guarding the queens jewels Traitors bridge. If you were caught, you were brought to the tower through this bridge. A great shot of the Tower bridge from inside the castle Check out the size of that book! The lovely house built for the ill fated queen Anne, they were married 3 years and she was executed. The house took 4 to build. The site where many of the nobels were executed. Where the Ravens live. Legend has it, if the Ravens fly away from the Tower the monarchy will collapse. They are all clipped so they cant fly away.

The Tower of London

Here are a collection of photos from our trip to the Tower of London. We managed to get in cheaply, with Nige's quick thinking we got two for the price of one. Our Beefeater guy. Very funny. Castles were made for little shorties like me. Ahh, cannons, Nige likes all the weapons Nige wants to keep everyone else out. The rooms where the queens jewels are kept. Huge and sparkly. Where the King died in his bedroom Nigel kneels at the throne The Kings bed The White Tower (original tower) Look at the Moat mark along the edge of the castle
