Good Times in London Town
The BIG ROADY around ENGLAND
We decided to hire a car in the mid term break and drive around England to get a feel for England as opposed to London.
We left London, Victoria Station and drove out onto the motorway. It was really stressful because I was reading the map, looking for road signs and videoing our journey out of the city and Nige was trying to drive without turning on the windscreen wipers!!!(they have the wipers where we have the indicators so its very confusing!!!!)
We managed to get out onto the motorway and began our journey of following a map and going where it would lead us. I had a few ideas about places I wanted to see, but Nige really just wanted to get out there and see where we would end up. Looking back, our trip was a success, I am a much better navigator and map reader and Nige even had my driving the country lanes. It was so good to get behind a steering wheel and go.
Oxford and Stow on Wolds
Here is Oxford University. We drove around the uni and the city and then we kept going.
Our Polo that we hired. We actually hired a smart car but they upgraded us for free, which is a good thing, because neither of us can travel lightly!!!
A cool castle on the way to Stow on Wold.
We arrived in Stow on Wold. Here is a photo that Nigel took for obvious reasons.
The main street of Stow.
You are looking at the YHA hostel we stayed in. This was the view from the first pub we went in on our trip for a beer.
Stow on Wold at night all lit up.
On the way we stopped at this little museum. It is a replica of the town, all its buildings and churches etc etc. It cost about 3 pounds to get in. It wasnt that interesting.
Bath
We had to walk across that bridge to get into town. The parking is a nightmare so we used the car park next to a cricket ground and wandered over. Unfortunately it has a narrow footpath and a car went right past and covered my legs in wet water from a puddle on the road. Nige thought that was hilarious. Luckily, we were going straight to the Baths and with all that lovely warm water, there was a lot of steam. It was warm and toasty and my pants had dried within 20 minutes. Bliss.
The Great Bath
Nige posing and pondering.
Nige dipping his feet in. You're not actually allowed to do this but because we were the first in, noone was around so we thought, why not!!!
Outside the Baths, it was a wet day in Bath. Luckily we had umbrellas. Our feet got soaked though.
