Northern Ireland
We went for a quick break to Belfast to cover Northern Ireland. We arrived in the city and found the famous 'Grand Liquor Saloon' where there are traditional gas lights, hand painted glass windows and olde world glamour everywhere. We got a 'snug' to have our lunch in, guinness and an irish stew. The IRA used to have secret meetings in these snugs. After this we went to our hostel called Paddy's Palace and got picked up for a Black Taxi Tour. The traditional british cabs take you around the areas where The Troubles happened and explain all the murals. We got to sign a wall called the Peace wall. There are a few around the city to keep people divided at night time. Then we met up with our irish friends we met on our topdeck tour. We went out and had a few drinks and a great night. Good craic was had. The next day we went on a Paddywagon tour to see the Giant's Causeway. The rock formations were amazing. We went on the Creke a Reddy swing bridge as well. We also went to Londonderry where the Bloody Sunday massacre happened and we were able to wander around the area and see the murals. We also checked out the memorial to the victims. After that we headed to the airport to go home but the weather drew in and the plane was cancelled. We stayed another night in Belfast and then took a mid morning flight home.
